Chi III Campaign Cited in IUCN's Latest Rhino Report

The latest International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Rhino Report for the Convention of International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) 19th Meeting of the Conference of Parties (COP 19) cites the USAID-supported campaign to reduce the demand for rhinoceros horn in Vietnam for its demonstrated impact. The campaign addressed the status driven use of rhino horn among businessmen in Vietnam’s urban centers. An independent rapid assessment in 2021 showed that the intention to purchase rhino horn among those exposed to USAID/TRAFFIC’s Chi III campaign decreased by 28 percent compared to the 2018 baseline survey.
